The Road We Take

The life I have chosen
The path I have taken
Is an endless road that leads
To a place I have never been to

Where I go is my business
And where it leads me
No one may ever know
Not even the shadow
That walks with me

And in these travels
I must admit that
At one point I have
Stayed too long
Only to remember
That I must walk again
To a place I have never been to

Sooner or later
There will be a place
Where I am welcome
Where I want to stay

But until that time comes
I wander and walk the road
Alone with just my shadow
Following my every footstep
To a place I have never been to
